Joseph Worbey was baptised on 16th June 1822 at Great Wymondley in Hertfordshire.
In 1844, aged 22, Joseph married a Martha Wiggs at Hitchin. They do not appear to have had any children. The marriage was also relatively short; Martha died in 1850, aged 32. Joseph appears in the 1851 census living alone at Great Wymondley, and working as an agricultural labourer.
Joseph died relatively young, only surviving Martha by six years. He died aged 33 and was buried at Great Wymondley on 13th January 1856.
